Large Aeroplanes

Developing and certifying large transport aircraft requires close coordination between manufacturers, system integrators, and specialized engineering partners. IDA supports these programs by providing targeted technical and certification services that strengthen compliance, efficiency, and design assurance across the aircraft lifecycle. Acting as an independent and experienced supplier, we assist our customers — airframers, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, and design organisations — in implementing and demonstrating compliance with system, safety, software, and security standards applicable to CS-25 category aircraft.

Our Activities on Large Aeroplanes
Systems Engineering

Our Systems Engineering services help structure large, multi-system programs in accordance with ARP-4754B, defining architectures, interfaces, and development assurance levels across avionics, flight control, propulsion systems or any complex safety critical system. For example, we have supported programs involving integrated modular avionics (IMA) and electrically powered flight control actuation, where clear system architecture and requirement traceability were critical for compliance and coordination between OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.

Safety & Reliability Engineering

Through Safety & Reliability Engineering, we ensure that complex systems—from digital flight control computers to engine management and power distribution—meet certification objectives under ARP-4761A. We develop safety artifacts such as FHA, PSSA, SSA, and CCA, and perform quantitative analyses using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to support compliance with EASA CS-25.1309. This provides clear evidence that system architectures achieve both reliability and safety objectives.

Software Development

Our Software Development experts help integrate high-criticality applications developed under DO-178C / ED-12C, supporting software planning, tool qualification, and verification. We can act as Software CVEs, perform independent audits, or assist with Stage of Involvement (SOI) preparation to ensure smooth certification with authorities. Whether developing flight control or engine control software, IDA ensures that development assurance and verification activities align seamlessly with system and safety requirements.

Product Security

Finally, Product Security has become a key element in large aircraft development. We apply ED-202B / DO-326B, ED-203A / DO-356A, and ED-204A / DO-355 standards to ensure that cyber resilience and continued airworthiness are integrated into both airborne and ground systems. For example, we perform Security Risk Assessments (SRA) for avionics networks and prepare Plans for Security Aspects of Certification (PSecAC) to support compliance with EASA AMC 20-42.

Together, these disciplines ensure that IDA provides an end-to-end technical assurance chain — from architecture and safety design to software and cyber compliance — supporting large aircraft programs through concept, development, and certification.
